Surgery Day!

I had to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. My surgery was set for 7:30 am. I got up, took my levothyroxine, showered, and  after I got dressed, finished what little packing I had left.  Just as I zipped up my bag I got a text letting me know my sister was here to take me to the hospital. A five minute car ride and we were there. She dropped me off and I went in.
Registration is a busy place at 5:30 in the morning. The whole process only took about 15 minutes. I went upstairs and sat in a waiting room listening for my name. After another 15 or so minutes I was called. I let them know my husband Burt would be arriving shortly. I was taken to my pre-op room, given a gown, and told to change. Just after I changed my husband arrived.
The next hour went by soo quickly...I had an IV put in. My surgeon, Dr. Schuster, came to see me. He met my husband and gave him a brief rundown on what was going to happen.
I don't really remember much after that until my surgeon was waking me up. I hear him telling me " So, funny thing is I know your husband." I'm still groggy but I heard him right. He goes on to say "We grew up together in Kingman, until I moved away." Now I'm more awake. "We were best friends in grade school!" he ends with. The rest of the conversation was how good I did in surgery and how I should do Great after!
The rest of the day I was in bed. I tried to get up a few times, but I felt dizzy. I was able to get up later at night, but it was no where near the 4 hours after recovery that I was supposed to be up and walking. Oh, well. I did what I could.
